17th Conference “Selective Collection, Segregation and Recycling of Waste” / Abrys for the Environment
Does intelligent, individual segregation really work? Let’s look at Lesko!
Representatives of T-MASTER SA took part last week in the 17th Conference “Selective Collection, Segregation and Recycling of Waste,” organized by Abrys for the Environment. One of the presentations covered the implementation process of individual waste segregation in the municipality of Lesko.
The Mayor of Lesko, Adam Snarski, explained why the local government decided to take this step. The starting point was the rising costs of the existing system, the problem of illegal dumping, and a sense of unfairness among residents. As he emphasized:
“Residents identify with their own waste. They know they pay for their own, not someone else’s.”
After several months of operating the Individual Waste Segregation System, Lesko is recording lower amounts of mixed waste, better quality of segregation, and real savings (forecast: as much as PLN 120,000–130,000 per year). However, the most important change has occurred in residents’ awareness—the system is now perceived as fair and reasonable. Today it operates in part of the city, and the Mayor’s goal is to extend it to the entire municipality of Lesko. ♻️
