From the digital bin… meaning data from the first digitized waste collection points in Poland
How much waste did the average Pole produce during this year’s Easter holidays compared to previous years? We checked!
Between Easter Thursday and the following Tuesday, the average household in Poland generated around 9.11 kg of waste – according to data from over 20,000 residents, collected via the mOdpady app, part of the Individual Waste Segregation System by T-Master.
Easter statistics from selected regions of Poland
- The most waste was generated in 2021 – as much as 9.97 kg,
- The least waste was discarded in 2025 – 8.56 kg.
A positive trend is the cyclical decrease in the amount of waste produced by Poles in recent years. This shows that people are taking the need to reduce waste production and the obligation to sort waste more seriously. There is also growing awareness that waste can be properly managed and reused.
When do we throw out the most?
During the most recent Easter holidays, most of us spent Friday and Saturday cleaning and cooking, while Sunday and Monday were devoted to family time and enjoying festive delicacies.
We are wasting less food and planning this time better – buying more wisely and cooking more consciously.
Easter tradition with an ecological twist
Easter is a time of joy, gatherings, and… increased consumption. But that doesn’t have to mean excessive waste. It’s worth planning the holidays wisely – buying only what we really need and remembering to sort waste correctly. By combining tradition with mindfulness, we not only care for our budgets but also for the environment. Especially since residents of buildings with SISO already sort waste at a rate of 53% – a result that shows we can achieve even more together.
We’ll share the next batch of digital bin data after the May holidays.
